I'm heartbroken to hear about what happened to Reggie Safford Jr. It really hits me knowing he was such an active part of his church choir and seemed to have his whole future ahead of him with that construction license. It's a real tragedy that the violence in his neighborhood overshadowed the bright path he was carving out for himself. I keep thinking about his family and what they must be going through, especially after also losing his cousin Jazznique earlier in the year. That's just too much for any family to have to endure. I read that the community is struggling to cope with fear and mistrust, which makes it even harder for the police to get the information they need. I hope more people will find the courage to step forward so that Reggie's family can find some peace and his case can help prevent other tragedies in Rockford. Has anyone from the community noticed any changes or efforts to curb this violence recently?
