Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about Darnell Hardeman's case and specifically about the community's response to his tragic death. It’s just so difficult to understand how something this devastating could happen, and how the community can rally to support his family and push for justice. I read that Darnell was a charismatic presence in the neighborhood and was involved in community projects aimed at uplifting young people. It just makes me wonder, how can a community recover and unite after such a significant loss? And how do they keep hope alive when faced with the fear of speaking out? We hear about the power of community action and engagement all the time, but what does that really look like in places like Washington Heights, where fear of retaliation is real? Has anyone seen instances where communities have successfully organized to create meaningful change and reduce violence in similar situations? Let’s not forget the real person behind this tragedy and all he contributed to those around him. Keeping Darnell’s memory alive seems like it could be a positive step forward. I’d love to hear thoughts on what might be working in other communities.
