It's been haunting to think about how the justice system had to work tirelessly for years to finally bring John Panaligan back to the States to face charges for Victor Patel's murder. I cannot even begin to imagine what Victor’s family must have felt during the years Panaligan was on the run, knowing that justice wasn't served for someone who was clearly a beloved son, friend, and professional. Given the grim climate in Chicago back then, it’s a stark reminder of how these tragic, personal stories can get swallowed up by the broader wave of violence. It’s comforting to know that even with the chaos and overwhelming cases, people cared enough to go the extra mile to find justice for Victor. Let's hope that the ensuing trial brings answers and some semblance of peace to his loved ones. Also, a nod to the diligent international cooperation that brought Panaligan into custody. It's not every day we see such determined pursuit of justice across borders! Thoughts with the Patel family. Stay strong. ❤️
