I’m honestly at a loss trying to understand how something like this could happen in a seemingly normal situation. Rommell Harris was just hanging out with his friends, like any other young person might do on a Sunday afternoon, when in an instant everything changed. It must be incredibly difficult for his friends who were there that day—not only losing their friend but having to carry the memory of that awful event with them.
What really gets to me is how this attack seemed so sudden and targeted. It makes you wonder about the context and why Rommell, in particular, was singled out. Unfortunately, without more information on the motive or any suspects, it's hard to grasp the bigger picture. I just hope that those who knew something are brave enough to come forward. Rommell’s family and friends deserve answers, and the community deserves to know they're safe. It’s just all so unsettling and sad.

I've been thinking a lot about the effect Rommell Harris's murder had on his community in Maywood.
