I’ve been following the tragic case of Emmanuel Fleming and can't get over the sheer audacity of this crime happening right outside a church with children present. It's incredibly distressing to think about what his children—and everyone there—saw that morning. Emmanuel seemed like a brave man, putting himself at risk by deciding to testify and, unfortunately, it seems that courage came with immense danger. This really makes me question the effectiveness of bail and witness protection in such high-risk cases. How can we expect justice to be served when witnesses aren’t safe? My heart truly goes out to his family and especially his kids, who had to witness such a terrifying and devastating event. It’s crucial for the law to step up protection for those willing to come forward, or these cycles of violence will just keep repeating. What can be done to better protect witnesses in Chicago? If anyone has thoughts or knows of organizations working on this, please share.
