It's so saddening to revisit Angel Miguel Reynoso's case and to think about the environment that surrounded him. One detail that haunts me is the potential for different choices that day in Green Oaks Park. The encounter that led to the tragic loss was all too brief, with a split-second decision resulting in heartbreak for so many people. I can’t help but wonder what could have happened if there had been just a moment more to rethink actions on both sides. It's so painful to consider that a young person like Jesse Garza, who was only 17 at the time, has to carry the weight of this tragic event for the rest of his life, just as Angel's family will forever feel their loss. As a community, we need to support the families affected and work towards creating spaces where young people can choose paths free from violence. What thoughts do others have on programs or initiatives that have been effective in reducing gang violence in similar communities?
