Has anyone ever discussed the timeline inconsistency regarding Jamie Barrera's ex-boyfriend and his various accounts of the night she disappeared? It's been bothering me ever since I looked into this case. It just doesn't add up. One report mentioned that he claimed he left Jamie at the hotel, while another story suggested they went their separate ways later that night after picking his wife up to confront Jamie. These discrepancies make me wonder if he knows more than he's letting on or if there's something more sinister at play. I understand there are a lot of emotions tied up in this, especially with his wife discovering the relationship, but has there been any follow-up from law enforcement about these contradictions? Has anyone heard if they’re planning to question him further or if they already have? It just feels like a crucial piece of the puzzle might be hidden in these conflicting stories.

Jamie is my aunt and I wonder this every single day. There’s no way she could possibly go missing and him have nothing to do with it. He was very shady with our family as well during that time. I wish law enforcement could and would do more and look into this more. It kills me inside.

From what I have researched the most commonly cited summary is from The Charley Project which says Jamie was seen with her ex-boyfriend the night she disappeared and that he has told multiple different stories about what happened, and that his wife and Jamie had just found out about each other.

Local reporting early on described an “active investigation,” but did not publish details about the ex-boyfriend’s timeline in the articles that are easy to access today.

NamUs similarly provides case basics, but doesn’t go into witness/interview contradictions. All of this sounds so suspect. It feels like she was a victim of foul play and law enforcement doesn't have enough info to do anything about it. That is so sad.
