I just read about Hunter Krzysik’s case, and my heart goes out to both his family and the young friend involved in the tragic accident. Something I've been thinking about is the lasting effect on the friend who was holding the gun. At 14, he must be dealing with an immense amount of guilt and trauma, especially with the involuntary manslaughter charge. It’s so crucial for us to think about the psychological support he’ll need moving forward. Kids at that age can be so impressionable, and an incident like this can unfortunately shape the rest of his life. It’s horrible that a lack of proper firearm storage led to such loss and pain. This could happen to anyone, and perhaps highlighting the crucial need for education in gun safety can prevent future tragedies. Does anyone know if there have been community discussions or initiatives about mental health support for kids involved in accidents like these? Supporting both families seems like a step towards healing.
