It's incredibly difficult to process the immense tragedy that happened to Shari Ann Yates and the others. I was reading about the crime spree that Brady Witcher and Brittany McMillan were on, and it’s just terrifying to think about the sheer disregard for human life. What really hit me was learning about how Shari dedicated her life to helping others as a nurse's aide and Life Skills Instructor. She undoubtedly touched so many lives with her compassion and kindness, only to have her own life taken in such a cruel manner. My heart goes out to her family, friends, and everyone in the community who are left to grapple with this senseless loss. It’s a reminder of how fragile and unpredictable life can be. My thoughts are with them during this immensely challenging time.

I can’t stop thinking about the incredible courage it must have taken for the Bethalto Police to carry out the welfare check that ultimately uncovered this horrific tragedy. Walking into an unknown situation, not knowing what they might find, is something I can’t begin to imagine. I hope they have the support they need right now, as this must have been so difficult for them too. Shari, AJ, and John were described as loving and compassionate individuals, and it's just devastating to know their lives were cut short so senselessly. It makes me wonder what Shari’s last thoughts were, surrounded by people she loved and yet facing such brutality. My thoughts are with their families and friends. This case continues to perplex me, especially considering the crime spree background of Witcher and McMillan. It’s hard to fathom the kind of heartlessness it takes to commit such widespread violence.
