I wanted to touch on the role Myra's love for gardening played in the community. It seems like more than just a hobby for her—it was a way she connected with people. Her garden was often the backdrop for many of the neighborhood gatherings, and there's something so comforting about imagining her surrounded by friends and laughter among the flowers she nurtured.
It's absolutely devastating to think something so horrific occurred to someone so well-loved. Even as her neighbors and family grieve, I hope that garden continues to be a place of healing, a reminder of the warmth and generosity she brought to Preemption. If you've ever visited or had the pleasure of knowing Myra, you probably felt her kindness and passion for life—it's no wonder she left such a mark on everyone. If only we could have more people like her in the world.
I just can't wrap my head around the events leading up to that tragic day for Myra and Steve. How does something like this happen in such a close-knit community like Preemption? From what I've read, Myra was incredibly generous and always seemed to create happiness around her. It’s devastating to think someone so lively and beloved had her life end in such a tragic way. Her love for gardening, for instance, was such a hallmark of her personality—she gave away vegetables and flowers to neighbors all the time. I wonder if there were any signs that something was wrong in their relationship beforehand, or if this truly came out of nowhere for everyone who knew them. Whatever the case, my heart goes out to Myra's family and all who were touched by her kindness. Losing her is undoubtedly a deep and painful blow to everyone who cared for her. Is there anywhere that people are gathering to share memories or offer support to her family?
I've been following the case of Myra Long and it's just so difficult to wrap my mind around the events that unfolded. From everything I've read and heard, Myra seemed like such a warm and wonderful person, always bringing smiles to her community in Preemption with her love of gardening and her infectious personality. It's just so hard to process how someone who was so full of life ended up like this.
While the official reports concluded it as a homicide/suicide, I often wonder about the moments leading up to that tragic day. It breaks my heart to think of what Myra might have been feeling or if there were signs that things were not right. Did any of Myra's friends or family ever notice anything unusual in the days or weeks leading up to this? It's important to keep her memory alive by discussing what happened openly, as painful as it might be. Maybe it might help prevent something similar from happening to someone else in the future.
My thoughts are with Myra and Steve's families and everyone who loved them dearly. I hope they're finding some peace and understanding in such a tragic situation.
