I've been following the case of Tajanay Samuels and Antwainisha Bratcher, and it's just devastating this happened to two young women with their whole lives ahead of them. I can only imagine the unbearable grief their families are going through right now.
One thing that’s really been on my mind is the location where this happened—8700 block of South Essex Avenue. I know gun violence has been a persistent issue in some neighborhoods, but it feels like there needs to be a bigger focus on why these areas are targeted for violence and what proactive steps can be taken. Are there community programs or initiatives in South Chicago that aim to address these issues? It seems like involving the community might bring some pressure or support to finding the attacker.
If anyone local knows of resources or how people from outside the area can help or support the families, it would be great to share that here. These women deserve justice, and their loved ones deserve answers and peace.
