I can't stop thinking about the impact that losing Pierre has had on the younger kids in the neighborhood. It's so important for us to remember that he was just 14, with his whole life ahead of him. Kids around that age are at such a formative time, and it breaks my heart to think about how traumatizing it must be for them to see someone they probably played with and looked up to gone so suddenly. Especially considering Pierre's love for baseball—sports can be such a positive outlet and inspiration for young ones. I hope the community can find ways to come together not only to support Pierre's loved ones but also to create safe spaces for these kids to process their feelings and stay engaged in positive activities. We owe it to Pierre and his family to make sure that his loss, though tragic, leads to lasting change. Rest in peace, Pierre. Your light continues to shine through those you inspired.
