Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the investigation into the shooting that claimed the life of Lewis Funches, and I can't stop thinking about the circumstances surrounding the gathering on South Rhodes Avenue. It's devastating to think about the violence that erupted at what should have been a joyful block party. Block parties are usually about bringing people together, dancing, and celebrating community — something that was clearly so important to Lewis, given his passion for dancing and his work with the Ultimate Threat Dance Corp.
I can’t help but wonder about the atmosphere leading up to the tragic event. Did something happen at the party that might have escalated things? Was there any tension brewing earlier in the evening? It’s just so difficult to comprehend how a celebration could turn fatal so quickly, and Lewis, who seemed to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, paid the ultimate price.
My heart goes out to Tenika Blackman and everyone who loved Lewis. I hope the community can eventually find healing and that the detectives uncover the truth behind what happened that night. We owe it to Lewis and Kehinde, and to everyone affected, to not let this become just another unsolved case in a city that sees way too much of this kind of tragedy.
Stay safe, everyone. Please share if you know anything about what happened that night.
I’ve been following this case for a while now, and I can't stop thinking about the impact Lewis Funches had on the folks around him, especially the Ultimate Threat Dance Corp. It's clear from everything I've read that Lewis wasn't just a passionate dancer; he was beloved by his peers and mentors in the dance community. I can't even imagine the void his absence has created among his fellow dancers.
I've also been wondering if there's any way the dance community or his friends have done something in his honor since his passing, like a memorial performance or event. It's sad enough to lose someone so young and vibrant, but I hope they have found some way to keep his spirit alive through the joy of dancing. If anyone knows more about this or if there are any upcoming events, I would love to hear about them. It’s important to remember the positive footprint Lewis left on the world despite such a senseless loss.
