I've been following Mitchell Barber's case closely, and something that's been bothering me is the mental health aspect surrounding Denzel Ollison. From all accounts, Ollison and Mitchell were like brothers, which makes this all the more devastating. But hearing that Denzel experienced hallucinations and suicidal thoughts raises so many questions about whether mental health resources were available to him before this tragedy. I think it underscores the larger issue of how mental health isn't taken as seriously as it should be—especially in communities that already face so many challenges. It's just so sad to see what can happen when someone who needs help doesn't get it in time. My heart goes out to both families involved here. They’ve both suffered an unimaginable loss in different ways. Mitchell deserves justice, but it's also a reminder that we need systemic changes to prevent things like this from happening in the first place.
