Hey everyone, I’ve been following the Verndell Smith case and something just strikes me about the choice of location where the shooting happened. It’s a Dunkin' Donuts, right? Of all places near his dance studio, it seems so brazen and public. Was it because Kimberly was so desperate to catch Verndell off guard? Or maybe there’s something particular about that spot we’re not seeing? Thinking about all the kids and young dancers who must be driving by that very spot every day now, it just feels so wrong. It was meant to be a safe space, close to where his students practiced and grew into who they are. I hope the community can somehow turn this painful spot into a place of remembrance and healing for Verndell and those affected by his loss. It’s hard not to imagine the fear and chaos that ensued in such an everyday setting. My heart goes out to his family and everyone who knew and loved him as they navigate this nightmare. ?
