I keep thinking about how terrifying and chaotic the scene must have been for the rideshare driver who witnessed Lewis Ross's murder. Imagine being in your car, ready to start another trip, when shots explode out of nowhere, and a young man in your vehicle gets hit. The driver did the right thing by immediately rushing for help and flagging down the police, but I can't imagine how they must be coping after such a traumatic experience. It's easy to forget that violent incidents impact not just the victim and their family, but also those who inadvertently get drawn in. I hope the driver is receiving support and counseling if needed. Lewis's death is a stark reminder of the ripple effects of violence, touching so many lives in unexpected ways. I truly hope Lewis’s family finds some peace as justice continues to be sought.
