Has anyone else looked into the changing hair color trend during the 1960s? I wonder if Ellen McCullum-Drake’s habit of dyeing her hair could have helped her either stay under the radar or blend into different communities if she went into hiding. It was a time of big changes and self-expression, and I’m curious if her transformation through hair color could have been more than just a personal choice. Maybe she was preparing for something or felt the need to frequently change her appearance. Also, could this detail play into her ties to both Portland and Missouri? It might be a long shot, but I think it could be something worth exploring further. Thoughts?
