Did anyone ever look into the neighbor's background in more detail? Given the timing of his move into the home with William's wife, it feels like something that might have been overlooked early on. It's a bit concerning that the police files were lost in the flood—so much information might be gone forever. I know it’s been decades, but maybe someone who lived nearby or knew them back then might recall something about the neighbor’s past or interactions with Bill. It's a long shot, but stranger things have happened in cold cases, and you never know what might crack a case wide open.
