I’ve been digging into Andre Thorpe’s case and can’t stop thinking about how the community in Baltimore must have felt at the beginning of 2009. With seven people killed in just the first few days, it’s like the city was in shock. It must have been terrifying for families, including Andre's, to start a new year amidst such chaos and violence. What really hits me is the impact on Andre’s community. A young life lost like this is devastating for those who knew him and those who want to see change in Baltimore. It feels like there was this momentum to reduce crime from the year before, but with Andre's and others' deaths, residents probably felt that glimmer of hope slip away. With no immediate suspects and limited leads, it must have left everyone feeling incredibly vulnerable and desperate for answers. Sending thoughts to Andre’s family and all who’ve been affected. If anyone has insights or remembers what the community response was like then, I’d be curious to hear more. This case still leaves so many questions.
