I came across William Elroy Meyer's name in a cold case forum and got pretty intrigued. I find it so odd that the Fond Du Lac Sheriff's Department in Wisconsin is heading up the investigation into a disappearance that happened all the way out in California. Does anyone have any theories on why that might be? I mean, did William have family or friends in Wisconsin back in the '70s, or could there have been something else tying him to the area? It's just curious because you don't often see cross-state investigations unless there's a really good reason. Would love to hear if anyone has thoughts or info on this connection.

Hey everyone, I was diving into some old missing persons cases and stumbled upon the disappearance of William Elroy Meyer. Has anyone else noticed the odd involvement of the Fond Du Lac County Sheriff's Department in his case? I mean, William went missing from San Francisco, so why is a Wisconsin county so invested? I'm curious if there's something linking William to that area. Does anyone here have any thoughts or similar cases where jurisdiction seemed odd? Maybe someone local to Fond Du Lac might recall a detail or a rumor. It’s been over 50 years, but maybe fresh eyes could spark something. ?

Hey everyone, I've been looking into the William Elroy Meyer case and something's been puzzling me. Has anyone else noticed the Wisconsin connection? It just seems so random given that Meyer was from San Francisco. I came across a mention that the Fond Du Lac County Sheriff's Department is involved, but I can't find any details on how Wisconsin might be connected to his disappearance. Could there have been family ties or maybe he went there for a specific reason? If he'd already moved to or traveled to Wisconsin, it might help explain why they're taking the lead. Was there something going on in Wisconsin in 1972 that might've drawn someone from California? Just throwing ideas out there in case anyone has pieces of the puzzle that might fit.
