I’ve been following the case of Lasean Morris, and my heart goes out to his family and everyone who knew him. What I find so troubling is the continued lack of information about suspects or motives for this senseless act. It’s baffling how such a bright young life can be taken, and yet it feels like there are so few leads.
What particularly stands out to me is the community’s response. The GoFundMe campaign for his family really shows how deeply Lasean was loved and respected. It’s a touching way to honor his memory, but it also highlights the struggle families face—not just emotionally, but financially—when dealing with such sudden loss.
It seems like there’s a recurring theme here: these tragedies keep happening in our communities, and too often the perpetrators manage to slip through the cracks. It’s frustrating and sad. How can we better support law enforcement in getting answers, and prevent other families from going through similar grief? Thoughts and prayers for Lasean’s loved ones, and hoping that this case gets the attention and resolution it desperately needs.
I came across this case recently, and it really hit me how big of a void Lasean Morris's tragic death has left in his community. It's awful to think about all the promise and potential that was taken away in the blink of an eye. Lasean seemed like someone who was going places and could have made a real impact, both on and off the football field.
I wanted to mention something I found super commendable: the way his community has rallied together. Despite the pain, they’ve set up a GoFundMe to assist Lasean's family. It’s heartening to see people come together during such a tough time.
If anyone's seen or heard anything about what happened that night in Garfield Park, I hope you find it in your heart to speak up. Lasean's family deserves answers and closure. Let’s keep spreading awareness about this case so they don’t get lost in the shuffle of all the other unresolved cases in Chicago. His memory deserves that at least.
