It's so upsetting to hear about Dedrick Causey's murder, especially knowing that it happened in a place where he probably felt safe, like Romel's barber shop. I've been thinking about the shocking increase in homicides in the Park Manor neighborhood and Greater Grand Crossing area. It's alarming and really troubling to see communities in turmoil like this. How are people supposed to feel secure going about their everyday lives when things like this keep happening? It’s hard not to be disheartened by the lack of progress in Dedrick’s case. I truly hope that the police aren't giving up and that they’re still actively searching for suspects or any leads in this case. Dedrick seemed like a genuinely good person who had turned his life around and was giving back to his community. His story was one of change and hope, and it’s so disconcerting to see a young person like that lose everything to senseless violence. My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and anyone else who knew him. I hope justice comes to light and maybe can bring even a small amount of closure to those who loved him.
