I've been following the case of Matthew Smith Jr., and I can't help but think about the impact this has had on his family, especially on Thanksgiving day. No family should have to deal with such a loss, let alone on a day meant for giving thanks and being with loved ones. The fact that it happened in Peoria, a community facing its share of challenges, makes it even more concerning. With this being the 33rd homicide in the area for 2021, it's clear there's a need for something to change. I hope the investigation brings more answers and that justice is served, not just for Matthew’s family, but for the community that’s hurting. Sending thoughts to everyone affected. If anyone has more info or insights about what might be done to curb this violence, please share.
