Hi everyone,
I came across an old article mentioning Robert Phelps' murder in Baltimore back in 2009 and it really made me think about how pervasive the issue of unsolved homicides was (and still is) in the city. I know we've mentioned the gang activities and drug trafficking before, but I’m curious about the law enforcement side. Was there a specific reason why some cases, like Robert’s, saw little progress despite the apparent prevalence of these crimes?
From what I gather, local police were swamped with cases, and the community’s fear of retaliation likely discouraged witnesses from coming forward with information. With federal authorities cracking down on gangs like Triple C, one would hope that any related incidents might see some light shed on them. Yet, here we are, years later, and there's still silence.
Was there ever any change in the strategy to deal with these unsolved cases? It’s unimaginable what Robert’s family and others in similar situations must still be going through. Keeping the conversation going could spark some hope, or at the very least, keep these stories alive. Thoughts?
