I was reading about Nicholas Kochenburg's case, and I can't help but wonder about the role of the Illinois State Police trooper who witnessed the shooting. It’s astonishing that he was right there when it happened. It must have been surreal for him to see something so brutal unfold in real-time. It’s likely because of his immediate response that Richard Savado was arrested so quickly. I hope the trooper is coping okay, as witnessing such a violent act can’t be easy. And for Nicholas’s family and friends—having some sort of justice in near sight must be one small comfort. It’s still so hard to believe something so tragic could happen over a fender-bender. Keeping everyone affected by this in my thoughts.
