I keep thinking about the impact this whole tragedy has had on both families involved. Joshua Berg’s family has to navigate the loss of a loved one in such a violent and unexpected way, while Matthew Denbo’s family is dealing with the aftermath of his actions. It's just so sad for everyone. One thing that stands out to me is how people in the neighborhood didn't actually witness the shooting, but still felt Berg was the aggressor. It makes me wonder how these perceptions of people come together and how they play into the trial. The system is supposed to be about facts, but human opinions seem to blur those lines sometimes, don’t they? I'm really hoping that both families find some peace eventually. No matter the outcome for Denbo’s sentencing next year, it’s hard to imagine the pain Bierg’s family must feel, waiting for justice while sorting through their grief. My heart goes out to them.
