Hey everyone, I just can't stop thinking about a part of Khalil's story that really hit me. It’s the fact that he had managed to secure a job at the local car wash just before his life was cut short. For an 18-year-old, that speaks volumes. It says so much about his determination and the direction he was trying to take his life. It’s incredibly sad that we lost someone who was focused on building a better future for himself, especially when he was making positive steps like that. I remember Father Pfleger mentioning Khalil proudly showing off his new work uniform. It breaks my heart to think about what must have been going through his mind in those moments—maybe a sense of accomplishment and hope? His involvement with St. Sabina's programs and his job show a young man on the brink of fulfilling his potential. He deserved so much more. My heart really goes out to his family and everyone at St. Sabina. I can’t imagine the void they must feel. It’s crucial that communities like Chatham see an end to these senseless acts of violence, and I hope that justice for Khalil is soon achieved. Would love to hear if anyone has attended any of the recent community events at St. Sabina. How have these gatherings been helping folks cope? Take care, everyone.
