I’ve been thinking a lot about Andre Matthew Williams and how sadly common his story is. The late 2000s in Baltimore were terrifying for many, with violence skyrocketing and families living in constant fear. What stands out to me is the lack of media coverage surrounding Andre's murder. It's deeply upsetting to think that his story, like so many others, didn't receive the public attention it deserved. How is it that someone’s life can be taken and yet it barely gets a mention? It must be incredibly difficult for his family, not only having to deal with their loss but also feeling like his story was just another statistic. I really hope that more attention can be brought to these cases so that victims and their families can find some justice and peace. Anyone else bothered by how often these stories just seemed to disappear from the headlines?

Every time I read about cases like Andre Matthew Williams', it breaks my heart to think about the families left searching for answers in the dark. Unfortunately, the late 2000s in Baltimore were a tough period with so many unsolved cases. One aspect that often goes overlooked in these situations is the impact on local communities who knew Andre, however briefly. The lack of media coverage is especially frustrating. Media visibility can be crucial because when a story gets attention, it reminds people that there’s still an investigation underway. We need better support for victims' families, so they don't feel like they're the only ones fighting for justice. RIP Andre, and sending strength to his loved ones.

Have any of you ever visited Mount Zion Cemetery in Lansdowne? I was there recently and couldn't help but think about all the stories lying behind the graves. One that particularly struck me was that of Andre Matthew Williams. He was just 35 when he was killed in Baltimore back in 2009. It's so sobering to stand in a place that's meant to be peaceful and remember the chaos and pain that his family and friends must have endured. It's a stark reminder of how much violence gripped Baltimore during those years. Andre's case, like too many others, got lost in the noise back then. These victims deserve to be remembered and their families to find some sort of peace. If anyone has any more information about Andre or his case, or even similar stories from that time, it would be good to share and keep the memories of these individuals alive. It feels important to honor them by acknowledging their stories, no matter how long it's been.
