Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the community impact following the tragic mass shooting in East Garfield Park last year and how it specifically affected the Riley family. Pierre Riley was clearly a well-loved figure, not just by his family but by many in the neighborhood. I can't imagine the pain his friends and family are going through, especially knowing the suspects are still at large. What sticks out to me is the courage it must take for the community to come together after such a devastating event. Organizing another vigil, like they did, to pay tribute to Pierre and the other victims shows incredible resilience. It’s a strong testament to the communal spirit in times of adversity. I've read that sometimes these tragedies can drive wedges between communities, but it seems like this one brought people closer instead. If there are any local outreach programs or support systems that have been set up since then, I’d be really interested in learning more about them. How are folks in the area coping now, a year later? If anyone's from the Garfield Park area and could share more about how the community is healing or ways outsiders might help, it would be appreciated. Let's keep Pierre and all the victims in our thoughts as justice is still sought. Stay safe, everyone.
