Hey everyone,
I came across something intriguing while digging deeper into the James Heard case. I noticed there hasn't been much discussion around the possible witnesses' reluctance to testify. Given the community dynamics in Atlanta back in 1906, I can't help but wonder about the intense fear they might have felt. It’s disheartening to think those who might have seen or heard something were too scared to speak up, possibly because of threats from those involved or affiliated with the suspect.
Has anyone else come across any details about how community members reacted during the investigation, or any measures the police might have taken to protect witnesses? I'd like to think some brave souls eventually came forward despite the risks. It's always been tough when fear stifles justice and truth.
My thoughts are with James's family and friends. His story is such a reminder of how complex these cases can be, especially in the past when resources were limited.
Would love to hear any thoughts or additional info folks might have!
Take care,
