I recently came across the story of Officer Rexford "Rex" Deaver, and it’s been on my mind. He was just 23 and had only been in the force for three months. I can't help but think about the bravery it must have taken to step into such a dangerous situation. His sacrifice is an intense reminder of how volatile a situation can become and how quickly life can change. The fact that he approached the scene under the impression of averting more tragedy shows his commitment to his duty and the community. It’s hard not to feel a profound sense of loss for what he could have achieved in his career and shared with his loved ones. It's touching to see that the Brunswick community hasn't forgotten him and honors his memory with a monument. It's small gestures like this that keep the memory and lessons from such incidents alive. My heart goes out to his family and friends, who must carry both the pride of his service and the sorrow of his loss every day. How do others here feel we can better support our officers, especially when they're new and still learning the unpredictabilities of the job?
