I've been following Emma Kappus's case and can't stop thinking about the role her uncle, Roddy Elroy Childress, played. It's disturbing how he integrated into the family, and everything seemed normal right up until that awful night. They were planning a fresh start in Jacksonville, and it makes you wonder if Childress moving in with them played into the facade he kept.
It's chilling to think he could sit down and chat with Patrick the night before, knowing what he had done. I keep coming back to the idea of trust, especially with family, and how Emma and her dad couldn't have seen this coming. Trying to wrap my head around Jolene's perspective is tough—waking up to your family missing and trusting someone who'd undo everything in such a violent way. Emma and Patrick's lives were cut short in an unimaginable way. Just a reminder of how important it is to listen to those instincts when something feels off, even within our own families. Sending love to Emma’s remaining family during what must still be an incredibly difficult time.
