Has anyone else noticed how odd it is that the entire dory just vanished without a trace on the Columbia River? I mean, I understand that bodies of water can be unpredictable, but you’d think some debris or a clue of some sort would have surfaced over the years. The dory and all three individuals, Kenneth, Deon, and Lynn, just disappeared as if they were never there. For a river used so frequently by others, this is just baffling. It's a haunting reminder of how vast and mysterious these waters can be. Does anyone local to the Astoria area have any insights into what the conditions were like back then or if there’s been similar incidents? Would love to hear if there’s any watercraft experts who can weigh in on what might cause something like this.
I recently stumbled upon the baffling case of Kenneth Cutcher, who vanished while crab fishing on the Columbia River back in '84. Has anyone ever looked into the weather conditions on that particular day? I've read that sudden weather changes can be quite treacherous in that area, especially for small boats like a 17-foot wooden dory. It got me wondering if there were any reports of rough conditions or storms when Kenneth, Deon Young, and Lynn Kassler went missing. Also, did they have the necessary equipment like life jackets or a radio that could've helped if they got into trouble? It seems odd that there were no traces of the boat or any wreckage found. Curious to hear what others think.
I've been doing some digging into the Kenneth Cutcher case, and I'm curious about the conditions on the Columbia River around the time he went missing. April can be unpredictable in terms of weather, and I'm wondering if there were any records of storms or high winds in that area on April 2, 1984, which might have contributed to their disappearance. I haven't found much information on weather reports for that specific day. Would anyone happen to know where I could find historical weather data for the Columbia River region? Could rough weather have played a role in their dory vanishing without a trace? Any insights or resources would be appreciated!
