I’ve been thinking about Lora Nikolova’s story, and what keeps coming to my mind is the immense courage she showed in her final moments. It’s incredibly sad to think about how this young woman, who came here full of hope and dreams, had her life cut short in such a horrific way. Lora was just 25 and working as a lifeguard, probably excited about her future. From what I’ve read, she tried to intervene during the chaos. That takes a lot of strength and speaks volumes about her character. I can’t even imagine what Lora’s family must be going through, having traveled from Bulgaria for the trial. It’s hard enough losing a loved one, but to have to relive it all in court must have been beyond painful. They’ve been so strong throughout this ordeal. It's a true testament to their love for her and their commitment to seeing justice served. My heart really goes out to them and everyone who knew her. It’s cases like these that remind us just how senseless violence can impact so many lives.
