Seeing Anthony Hill Jr.'s story unfold is just so painful, especially considering his service to the country. As both a veteran and someone struggling with mental health, it's deeply upsetting to think that his plea for help ended in such a tragic way. I'm thinking about his loved ones who have continued to fight for recognition of his struggle and accountability for what happened. Whether or not justice was fully served in the court's decision, the broader conversations this case has sparked about mental health and law enforcement are so important. Every time I read more about his life and service, it reminds me of the critical need for better systems that protect and understand those who are vulnerable. My heart truly goes out to Anthony's family and friends as they navigate this difficult journey.
