It's truly difficult for me to wrap my head around the sheer terror Steven and Kathy must have felt in those final moments. What strikes me most about this case is the bravery of Giaquinta's 16-year-old daughter. Can you imagine the courage it took for her to make that 911 call, knowing her father had a gun? She had the presence of mind to act quickly, potentially saving more lives that night. It's important to remember her in all this, too—what an unimaginable burden for someone so young. I hope she's found some semblance of peace and has support around her. If anyone has more information about how she's doing now, I'd be grateful to hear it. Sending thoughts to all affected by this tragedy.
I’ve been following the tragic case in Clarkesville and, like so many of you, I can’t stop thinking about the sheer bravery of the officers responding to what must have been a terrifying situation. It’s beyond devastating to hear about Deputy Bill Zigen being shot twice and Sheriff Joey Terrell being wounded. They rushed to what was an incredibly dangerous scene, not only facing off against a gunman but having to do so while trying to piece together a chaotic chain of events.
This community is reeling from the loss, and my heart goes out to them and everyone touched by this story. Let's all continue to support each other and the families affected during this incredibly difficult time. I can’t imagine what it must be like for them to relive those moments, knowing they were up against a former colleague who turned violent. This case highlights the immense pressure and danger law enforcement officers can face, and my heart goes out to all involved, especially the families of those who lost their lives. Such a devastating event for this community.
