Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the local response to Kathy Smith's passing, and I just wanted to share some thoughts about the incredible community spirit that emerged after the tragedy. Although the details of the incident were so distressing, it was truly heartening to see Clarkesville come together to support Kathy’s daughters. Kali and McKenna losing both parents so suddenly is unimaginable, but people from all over our community stepped up in such a compassionate way. From what I've read, local banks and online platforms quickly became avenues for donations, and the outreach was overwhelming in a good way. I heard a lot of people from Kathy's church, The Torch Worship Center, were deeply involved, which doesn't surprise me given how active she was there. It’s moments like these that show the strength of community bonds, even in the darkest times. While sadly we can't change what has happened, it is comforting to know that there is a network of support for Kathy’s daughters as they navigate life without their mom. It’s crucial that we keep this support going and remain vigilant against domestic violence in memory of those we've lost. Sending all my thoughts to anyone affected by this tragedy. We're all hoping for continued healing and peace. - Jess

Did anyone else attend Kathy’s memorial service at The Torch Worship Center? It was so emotional and moving. Seeing the community come together like that for her daughters, Kali and McKenna, was truly special. You could really feel the love and support surrounding them. I can’t stop thinking about what they must be going through right now, losing not just one but both parents in such a horrific tragedy. If anyone has any updates on how the girls are doing or how the funds are helping them, please share. It's heartwarming to know that folks are stepping up for these girls in their time of need, but it’s a reminder of how much more they might still need moving forward.
