Hey sleuths, I was thinking about John Marcus Gatens and realized something unusual about his disappearance that hasn't been discussed much. Newport, Oregon, where he was last seen, is a relatively small and tight-knit community. It's the kind of place where people notice when something's off or out of the ordinary. Given that, it's strange there weren't more immediate leads or eyewitness accounts at the time. Has anyone looked into whether there were any local events happening around that date in 1995 that might have kept people occupied or distracted? It might be grasping at straws, but sometimes the devil is in the details. Any thoughts?
