I've been following the case of Jamario Evans, and I can't help but think about the role of bystander intervention. It's hard to imagine being at that card game, witnessing the argument escalate. I wonder if anyone tried to step in and de-escalate the situation before it got out of hand. It must be incredibly tough for Jamario's friends and family to know that things might have gone differently. I hope that moving forward, these kinds of incidents encourage folks to look out for one another and find ways to prevent violence before it starts. Sending all the love to those who are grieving Jamario's loss.
