I’ve been thinking about the impact that Damon Griffin’s murder had on his local Baltimore community, and it’s truly hard to grasp. Damon wasn't just a statistic; he was a friend, a neighbor, probably someone’s favorite person. Though news coverage tends to gloss over individual stories because the numbers are overwhelming, each victim leaves behind people who loved and cherished them. In Damon’s case, the outpouring of memories and tributes in online memorials shows how much he meant to those who knew him. Hari P. Close Funeral Service did an honorable job for Damon’s services, from what I've gathered, but it hurts to think that many stories like his don't get the attention they deserve. It’s frustrating when the media sometimes focus only on the “big” stories, leaving families without answers or closure for crimes that seem to get lost in the shuffle. The persistent violence that year in Baltimore, and Damon's part in it, just showcases how much those living in the city endure on a daily basis. I just feel for those left behind and hope his loved ones have the strength to keep Damon’s memory alive and push for the attention on his case that it deserves. It really is time for these stories to be highlighted more sensitively and thoroughly.
