Listening to everyone’s theories and insights on Ismael "Izzy" Ramos’ case makes me reflect on the importance of how we treat random acts of violence in our communities. It tears my heart apart to think about his family and friends grappling with the loss, especially considering how young he was. I've been thinking about those multiple shell casings found at the scene. It really paints a picture of chaos and suggests that there might have been more than one person involved in the shooting. This poor young man might have simply been an unfortunate bystander. It's just so frustrating that the community is still waiting for justice with no solid leads on who might have done this. Dublin deserves better. I hope that anyone with even the slightest bit of information comes forward. Justice for Izzy should be a collective action, and standing with his family in their time of sorrow is the least we can do.
It's been over five years since Izzy was taken from us, and it feels like yesterday that the news of his tragic death shook our community to its core. I can't stop thinking about how it must have been for him and those with him that night. Imagine just sitting on a porch, maybe laughing with friends, and then suddenly, chaos. I hope Markevius, who got shot in the thigh, is doing okay now—physically and mentally.
I see people talk about how Izzy was possibly just in the wrong place, and it makes me so angry. It's unfair that a young man with his whole life ahead of him ended up as an “innocent bystander.” We cannot become desensitized to such losses. It's crucial for us as a community to support each other and push for progress in the investigation. Dublin PD is encouraging anyone with information to speak up, and that could make all the difference. Izzy’s family deserves answers, and they deserve peace. Let's keep his memory alive and continue to push for justice.
