Hey everyone, I was just thinking about the Verde Reyes case and something that really stands out to me is the location where he was last seen. Highway 10 near mile marker 315 seems so incredibly isolated, and I can only imagine how disorienting it must have been for someone unfamiliar with the area, especially at night. Does anyone know if there have been any additional searches organized in that specific region over the years? There are so many cases of people going missing in the desert, and it makes me wonder about the resources dedicated to searching those areas. If anyone has insights or knows of any local search and rescue efforts that have been involved, I'd be really interested to hear back. Every little piece of information can help us piece together what might have happened to Verde.
I’ve been thinking about how challenging the investigation process must be when someone disappears under these kinds of circumstances. Verde Reyes' case is a troubling example. Given that he vanished while crossing the border, it must be incredibly difficult for authorities to piece together reliable information. Where do they even start? Do they primarily rely on testimonies from those who were traveling with him? I can imagine fear might prevent potential witnesses from coming forward, especially if they are undocumented migrants themselves. Does anyone know what kind of efforts, if any, are made by organizations or officials to ensure this process can be done safely? It's sad to think this might hinder solving cases like Verde's.
Has anyone looked into the possibility of Verde Reyes being picked up by someone who might have been passing by? The area around mile marker 315 on Highway 10 is pretty remote, but I've read stories of people offering rides to those in distress in desert regions. If he got into a vehicle with an unknown individual, it could explain why no trace of him has been found. Maybe law enforcement should revisit case files from that time, see if there were any reports of unusual activity or vehicles in the area? Without more info, it's so hard to know what really happened.
