I've been thinking a lot about Greg's case and how difficult it must be for his family and friends to find any sense of peace knowing the perpetrators are still out there. It's incredibly frustrating to see yet another case where witnesses might have seen something but are too scared to come forward. The fear that grips communities plagued by violence is very real, and it's a vicious cycle that keeps repeating itself. On the block where Greg was killed, it's apparently known that people often hear gunshots at night, but imagine living like that, constantly on edge. The worst part is that his murder is one of many that seemingly blends into the background noise of Oakland's ongoing battle with gun violence. How does a community heal when this kind of tragedy becomes almost normalized? I can't help but think about all the unsolved cases piling up and how the detectives must feel working tirelessly against an uphill battle. Greg, like so many others, deserves justice, and his family deserves answers. It's crucial that people speak up if they know anything, no matter how small it may seem. Let's hope that change comes, not just for Greg's memory but for the future of a safer Oakland.
