I’ve been digging into the case of Tony Reese, and what’s really striking me is the community’s response—or lack thereof—to these crimes back in 2012. It seems like there was such a disconnect between law enforcement and the neighborhoods most affected. I can’t help but feel for Tony’s family, navigating this unimaginable loss while also dealing with the frustration of an unsolved case. I wonder if the strained relationship between the community and the authorities added to the difficulty of solving these homicides. It’s tragic that a lack of trust and communication may have stood in the way of justice for Tony and others like him. Has anyone else looked into community initiatives or responses from that time? How can we improve these relationships today to prevent more families from going through such pain?
