On the night of July 24, 2021, 77-year-old Willie Jacox was found dead in his vehicle in the roadway of Mason Terrace Road in Perry, Georgia. Officers responded to a shots-fired call around 11:15 p.m. and discovered Jacox in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses saw a male and a female leaving the area quickly after the shooting.
Investigators located two people who matched those descriptions: 19-year-old Cornelius Reyshawn Wallace Murray of Americus and 18-year-old Natajah Sincere Culpepper of Centerville. A 9mm pistol recovered in a backpack they were carrying was forensically linked to shell casings at the scene. Authorities concluded both Murray and Culpepper were involved. Culpepper had called Jacox that day to meet her; she had called him Pops and sometimes received money and rides from him. Murray told investigators he believed Jacox had disrespected him, and an alternative account said Murray felt disrespected because Jacox spoke with Culpepper. Early leads also considered robbery as a possible motive.
Both suspects were arrested and charged in connection with the killing. Did anyone in the Perry area know Jacox, Murray, or Culpepper and have further information about their relationships or that night?
