I came across this case recently, and one detail that stuck out to me was the courage of Craig Joshua Thomas. In those terrifying moments when Marquez Smith showed up with a weapon, Craig did what he could to shield those he cared about. It must have been an unimaginably intense and frightening situation, but his instinct was to protect. Hearing how he tried to drive away despite being critically injured shows his determination and love for Desiree and those kids. It breaks my heart to think that he spent his final moments under such distressing circumstances. I just wanted to acknowledge his bravery and send a note of compassion to his friends and family, who’ve been through so much. Craig's actions that day speak volumes about his character, and I hope they find some comfort in knowing the kind of person he was. Even though nothing can bring Craig and Desiree back, I hope their families know there’s a community of people thinking of them and sending strength. A verdict might offer some closure, but the impact of losing loved ones in such violence is profound. Keeping them all in my thoughts.
