Cristian is my brother. It has been three years since he passed, and we have yet to receive any answers about what exactly happened that night of his murder. Police and detectives failed at their job; they made it seem like solving his case was not of importance. We have tried reaching out to get updates, but our calls, emails, and messages are ignored time after time. Detective Escalante of Hall County truly had no empathy towards us or Cristian. She denied handing over evidence when the case was passed to a new detective. Armando Alanis Escamilla was believed to have been taken to the border by one of his family members, whose last name is Ortega, yet Detective Dan Smith and Detective Escalante did not want to bring that man in for questioning. There were people at that residence who were there the night my brother was murdered; these people are constantly changing their stories and sticking with their claim that they did not hear any gunshot that night. My brother was shot and killed in their backyard. I find it very hard to believe that no one in that house heard a single thing. It is believed by many that his so-called "best friend" was also involved. His name is Marcos Alanis Garcia. This man told three different stories, two to the police and one to our family. His stepfather stepped forward and told police that he also believed Marcos was involved. He was not questioned any further, and many in charge ruled him out simply because he had a missing arm. The family of Armando takes our posts about awareness as threats. Truly, we are the ones who feel threatened by them. All we want is for Cristian to receive justice, and all we want is for those who were involved to be held accountable. Please spread awareness, please help us get the justice Cristian deserves.
