Hi everyone,
I was reading up on the tragic incident involving Corey Gibson and Andre Cox, and I can't help but focus on the role of community surveillance. With two cameras installed near the EZ Mart where the shooting occurred, you'd think there would be more leads or at least some pressure on the culprits. It's deeply unsettling that even with surveillance measures in place, violence like this can still erupt, claiming innocent lives.
It's a harsh reality for Corey’s family and friends to grapple with—how a simple visit to a convenience store turns into an unthinkable tragedy. The presence of cameras should act as a deterrent, but instead, we're left questioning their true effectiveness. Do they really serve as a preventive measure, or are they just there for after-the-fact analysis? My heart goes out to the Gibson family and all those affected. Such unnecessary loss, just so devastating to think about how it could have been prevented or at least solved by now.
If anyone has insights into how surveillance footage has been handled in similar cases, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts. And if there's any way to push for more transparency or improvements in this area, count me in.
Stay safe, everyone.
