I've been reflecting on the role of the community in Stephanie Colson Hawkins' case. It's incredibly sobering to think about how unsettling it must have been for the people living in the Tampa area at the time. Imagine knowing someone was out there capable of such cruelty. I can't help but wonder how this case affected other young women, especially those who worked in similar environments, and how they coped with the fear and uncertainty. I've read about how after Stephanie's murder, there was an increased awareness regarding personal safety, especially for those leaving work at night. It's important to remember how these tragic events often lead to significant changes in community safety measures, even if they come at such a steep cost. My heart goes out to Stephanie's family and friends, as well as all the other victims who suffered at the hands of Justus. The ripple effect of one person's violence can change so many lives forever.
