I’ve been thinking a lot about the amazing courage Denise showed during her terrifying ordeal. Imagine being in such a horrific situation and still having the presence of mind to call 9-1-1 and try to give as much information as possible. It’s a testament to her strength and determination. It’s truly appalling that the system failed her despite her efforts. Her bravery deserved a better response. It makes me so angry and sad for her family, especially knowing they did everything they could to find her. I really hope the changes brought about by the Denise Amber Lee Act will help prevent any more families from going through such a nightmare. Denise’s story has definitely changed my perspective on the importance of effective emergency response. How can we continue pushing for mandatory training for all 9-1-1 operators? It seems like the least we can do to honor her legacy.
